We are truly delighted to invite you to participate at the IASGO’s 25th Anniversary World Congress that will take place in conjunction with the Chinese Surgical Week in Fuzhou, China on September 4-6, 2015.
We feel privileged and honored that our World Congress is hosted by the Chinese Society of Surgery, and, on this occasion, we would like to express our warmest thanks and sincere appreciation to Professor Yupei Zhao, and to the members of the Executive Board of the Chinese Society of Surgery, for their support and dedication.
The late Professor Nikolaos Lygidakis, MD, PhD, FACS, FRCST(H), FJSS(H), the founder of the IASGO, has strongly promoted to organization of this landmark event in China. A passionate believer in the globalization of best medical knowledge and practices, he has devoted himself to spread of multidisciplinary approaches to treatment of deadly diseases, beyond any frontier and for all people. With his seemingly limitless positive energy and optimism, and with his unique vision, Professor Lygidakis has played a key role in the promotion of World Congress as well as in the creation of Advanced Post Graduate Courses all around the world, for improvement of standards of medical care, globalization of current medical knowledge, and pioneering and innovative steps for further progress of our knowledge. We are proud to be able to carry on the legacy of Professor Lygidakis at the IASGO.
This World Congress will be a unique event for several reasons. We expect participation of several thousands experts from more than 70 countries. The scientific program includes world-recognized leaders in their fields who will discuss the latest developments in the field of diagnosis and management of abdominal malignancies. Standard practices as well as the latest developments in the fields of surgical oncology, advanced open surgery, minimally invasive surgery, medical and radiation oncology, and translational medicine will be presented by experts from all over the world, and the meeting point between different disciplines will be reached, in order to define the status of tailored management for all the patients suffering from abdominal malignancies and systemic diseases. The purpose is twofold: discuss the state-of-the-art as well the expected developments of the near future; and engage surgeons, gastroeneterologists and oncologists in active discussion on new concepts and new principles regarding multidisciplinary strategies for the management of these diseases.
It goes beyond saying that besides the scientific program, the social program will be unique. Fuzhou is a city in south China, famous for its sea views, mountains and historical sites. This beautiful city just one hour's flight away from Shanghai. We are going to enjoy fantastic Chinese hospitality, and the treasure of Chinese culture.
